Blog Post: Vintage = Memories = Stories = Imagination

Have you ever held a piece of vintage jewelry? Have you ever wondered where was it made? Who was the artist? How many miles did this piece have to travel to have the opportunity to greet you? What history did it witness?

The Iridescent Hummingbird will be soon introducing a few vintage jewelry pieces. Photographing and documenting these pieces has become time consuming, not due to technical difficulties but from allowing our imaginations to quickly throw sand down the preverbial hourglass.

Some pieces we have are from an era that witnessed the assassination of JFK. Some may have been adorned by someone watching an I Love Lucy television show's original live telecast, neat-o commercial jingles and all.

All come from a period of time that seems so foreign to us today: smoking was permitted just about everywhere, women were primarily domestic and subservient, men arrived home from work each evening with a cocktail waiting, and -- there was no Internet.

Each vintage jewelry piece has a story but not all stories can be told. Some pieces are extremely valuable while others are valued only in sentiment.  What makes something vintage valuable to you?

Let your inner beauty shine. Be kind. Be selfless. Be well.
